Air Transfers to Lions Sands

Scheduled Flights - Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Airlink has one flight daily from Johannesburg to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve (Mala Mala Airfield). The flight details are as follows:

Land Transfers from Mala Mala Airfield to Lion Sands

Guest will be collected from the airstrip by open land rovers and transported to the lodge. The transfer time is approximately 1 hour.

Scheduled Flights - Nelspruit
There are three airlines that service the KMI Airport namely: Airlink, SA Express and Nationwide Airlines. Direct flights are available from Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Land Transfers from KMI Airport to Lion Sands

Should you require a land transfer from KMI Airport to Lion Sands this can be booked and arranged through Lion Sands Reservations.

Guests will be met at the airport and transferred in an air-conditioned microbus. The distance is approximately 110 kilometres and is estimated to take 2 hours.

Charter Flights

There is a charter flight (Federal Air) available direct from Johannesburg International Airport to Skukuza Airport. The estimated time of this transfer is 1h15min.These charter flights can be booked through Lion Sands Reservations.

Should you use a commercial airline and fly to KMI Airport near Nelspruit, there is a charter flight (Federal Air) to Skukuza. The estimated time of this air transfer is 0h25min.

Airport Taxes:
Skukuza airport charges a R90.00 airport tax for usage. This fee is fixed for arrival or departure or arrival & departure. We charge this direct to the guest’s account which is settled on check-out.

OR Tambo Departure Taxes:
As of 1 December 2007, OR Tambo will be charging each guest a departure tax of R47.00 in addition to the current flight prices. We are able to charge this direct to the guest’s account.

Land Transfers from Skukuza Airport to Lion Sands
Should you arrive with a charter flight at Skukuza Airport, Lion Sands will collect you in an open Land Rover and transfer you to the lodge. Distance is approximately 10 kilometres and is estimated to take 25 minutes.

This transfer service is complimentary.

Car hire:
At KMI Airport you have a choice of at least 7 car hire companies. You may collect your car at the airport and drive to the lodge. The approximate distance is 110 kilometres which should take about 1h50min. Please remember that should you be hiring a car, you will be required to pay the Sabi Sands Reserve entrance fees which at present is R70,00 per vehicle (this is the 2007 rate and is subject to increase for 2008).

Chauffeur Driven Service
Should you wish, you may organize a Chauffeur Driven Service through Avis Car Rental by calling (011) 923 3500. This service is available from Johannesburg to Lion Sands as well as from the new KMI Airport.
