First pictures of our new babies!
After the first summer rains there is always new life … from the multitude of centipedes and dung beetles to the snakes and monitors who come out to enjoy the weather - new life is everywhere!
Our guests were treated this week to seeing some of the new baby impalas that were born on Lion Sands in the last few days.
Several Impala ewes have begun giving birth as the conditions have become more favourable after the recent rainfall. There is plenty of lush green grass available which assists the mother Impala to produce milk which their babies depend on as well as plenty of bush cover to hide their precious newborn babies from predators.
As the wet season continues more and more ewes will give birth and form large nursery groups of mothers and their offspring.
